A lot of us when we are asked who are we in Christ? We began to say what we have heard is a possibility of what we can do in Christ.
Most times, we say those things not because we have a deep relationship or knowing it beyond doubt what we are saying.
Knowing who we are in Christ comes from a deep understanding of our relationship with God
You can’t have an identity if you do not relate with the one who gave you your life.
So, if you are trying to know who you are in Christ, you have to relate with Christ to know who he thinks you to be and know how he sees you.
Do you see yourself the way God sees you? Have you gotten to the stage where you understand beyond doubt who you are? When you ask God who you are and you come to understand your nature and your knowledge becomes factual drawn from a relationship with God.
Ephesians 1:5-6; 13-14 tells us of how God identifies with us as his children, who he has redeemed by his grace and the blood of Jesus. We are new creatures stemmed out of his roots, where he is the vine and we are the branches, in one family tree, knowing what kind of fruits you ought to bear.
5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Therefore, we are adopted into Christ to be one with Christ, as the holy spirit dwells on the inside us of showing us that we are gods walking on earth.
We should not forget, that before Adam fell, back in the beginning when God created all things, he said let us make man in our own image and according to our likeness. Let me break it down to simple English.
When God said we should create man, he meant we should crate man:
the way we are, to look like us to talk like us, to work like us to command like us, to see like us, to behave like us,
to dominate like us, to create like us according to the way we like things to be, according to the way we like things to be fruitful, according to the way we like things to flourish and grow, according to the way we like things to be whole and complete.
He didn’t just create man anyhow, he created man in a précised way, with a definite purpose, a spitting image of Himself.
Understanding God, Understanding Christ is understanding who you are thereby automatically knowing your identity.
In the words of a great preacher, let me end this by reminding you who you are!
You are a child of God! You have peace with God; The Holy Spirit leaves in you, you have access to God’s wisdom, you are reconciled to God.
You are not condemned by God; you have been justified. You have Christ righteousness; you are Christ ambassador.
You are completely forgiven and tenderly loved, you are a sweet fragrance of Christ to God, you are a temple in which God dwells, you are blameless and beyond reproach, you are the salt of the earth, you are the light of the world.
Christ chose you to bear fruit; you are a joint heir with Christ, you share in his inheritance.
You are united, in one spirit within. You are a member of the body of Christ, you are a saint, your past doesn’t define you.
You are hidden in Christ with God, you are holy, and you share in God’s heavenly calling. You are one of God’s living stones built up as a powerhouse.
You are born of God and the evil one cannot touch you. You have the mind of Christ. You have direct access to God! YOU ARE FREE!
